Overview of hot stamping foil

Hot stamping foil also known as hot stamp aluminum foil, with the thickness ranging from 10μM to 20μM, generally include five different material layers: base film, isolation layer, protective layer, electroplating metal layer and adhesive layer. The basic film layer is generally a biaxially stretched polyester film, which serves as the basic support for other functional layers. The isolation layer is used to separate the hot stamp aluminum foil and polyester film, make sure easy to peel off during the hot stamping process. The protective layer is covered on the hot stamping pattern to protect image and text from being damaged, and also display the color. The metal layer is uniformly sprayed with aluminum layer under vacuum condition to show metallic luster and reflect light. The adhesive layer will melt during hot stamping, play a role in bonding the anodized aluminum foil to printing object. Deciding the appropriate pressure and temperature based on the performance parameters of anodized aluminum in hot stamping process is very important. Normally the ideal temperature is generally between 90 ° C and 140 ° C. If the temperature is too low, it will lead to insufficient melting for peeling layer and glue layer. If the temperature is too high, it will also cause problems such as mackle and aluminum layer oxidation. Low pressure can affect the firmness in hot stamping, and high pressure can also cause deformation of substrate. In addition, the speed of hot stamp also affects the bonding time between hot stamping aluminum foil and printed objects, slower speeds result in stronger hot stamping effect. Generally speaking, the hot stamping process is carried out on the surface with printed pattern. Besides, there are also hot foil stamping on blank substrates, after then print graphic and text on surface of metal foil, this situation is suitable for large-area hot stamping occasions.

Types of hot stamping foil slitter rewinders

1) The manual hot foil stamping slitter rewinder machines fixes an anodized aluminum rolls on central axis, measures the required width and adjusts the knife holder to target position through a rocking handle. Start the power, the central axis drive the hot stamping paper to rotate, then press the handle on knife holder until the cutting process is completed. A scaleplate is configured to make knife setting process more convenient and efficient. The waste edges are blown out through edge blowing system. The winding adopts two sizes of air shafts: 1 “and 3”, and locate the position of paper cores through laser light. The winding tension is changed with roll diameters through taper tension control system, ensure the constant tension of hot stamping paper rolls.
